On Bird’s Wings

I love any opportunity for nature-themed illustration and was delighted to be asked by Canberra musician Simon Fisher to create the artwork for his EP.

I was very moved to learn that the music is dedicated to the memory of his late wife, Robyn. Using pencil and gouache, I illustrated a Robin (based on the Australian Scarlet Robin) sitting in a Eucalyptus tree overlooking an expansive landscape; loosely inspired by the Brindabella National Park, a really meaningful place to Simon. I added some hand-drawn snippets of maps to the mountains. I’ve never been to Australia but I absolutely loved coming up with the colour scheme and researching flora and fauna for this project.
